Wired Magazine wants me to work harder to read their ads. I cracked open the latest issue and came across this interactive ad service called kooaba. Here’s how it works,
1. Download the iPhone app (it’s free since suckers who download it just get to see more… right, ads)
2. Then, check out the list of ads that are kooaba enabled.
3. Open the iPhone app and take a picture of one of the ads - I did the Porsche one. Thought maybe something cool would happen. It didn’t. Although it did recognize the ad and took me to the Porsche website.
I like where they are going with this, however, advertisers need to give us a little more once we have gone through the effort of taking the picture - being sent to the corporate site isn’t enough.
A couple weeks ago we decided to replace the couch in our basement. The kids had destroyed what was there with common tools like milk, juice, and various other substances. So I didn’t want to get something new. Erica was keeping an eye on Craigslist for something suitable. After a couple weeks of tracking bizarre listings of overpriced 80’s styles couches with floral patterns Erica found the one. She contacted the guy that night, it was around 10pm. The guy emailed back immediately saying a bunch of people already contacted him about it and that whoever got there first the following morning get’s it.
The couch was located in Alexandria, about an hour from our place. The good news was my brother lived close to the couch’s location. So after promising to buy him breakfast he agreed to go to the guy’s place to get there before the other interested parties. I didn’t want to drive all the way to Alexandria if someone was already waiting for the guy to get home (he said he’d be around at 11am). Read More »
I have always been a big fan of piano in indi music. Here’s a few of my favorites:
Matt & Kim - Daylight:
Yo La Tengo - Beanbag Chair:
Dont’ have a good video for this one but here is a link to the whole song - Beanbag Chair.
Fifteen: The End
Fifteen stopped playing back in 2000 but had some great songs in the few years they were around. This one happens to have a great piano track. The End You can also download many of their songs for free from their website
Pretty much any song from The Hold Steady’s last album, Stay Positive has great piano as well.
My Mom’s in town and wanted to be able to get online with her Macbook and her Sprint LG Rumor phone. I have experience setting up a Macbook Pro with a world phone Blackberry and it worked great, until I got an iPhone which can’t tether. So I did a little Googling and figured I would put all the steps here in once place.
1. First, make sure you have a data plan. Sprint charges $30 for unlimited data and then $15 for the ability to tether.
2. Connect your Macbook to your LG Rumor via bluetooth. To do this, hit “ok” on your phone, select the settings/tools option and then tools. Go down to bluetooth and go to settings. Make sure you have it set to “on” plus set visibility to visible for either 3 minutes or always, I suggest setting it to always for now at least. Read More »
Facebook Connect (FBC) will be a major player in the future of data portability and web 3.0 because of Facebook’s broad user base. However, as of now there are only a few plugin options available for Wordpress. I have installed and tested the two most fully-featured FBC plugins listed on the FBC plugin directory. Here’s what I found… Read More »
Throughout the day I use tweetdeck to see what’s going on in Twitter world. Occasionally I come across something that is just funny. This post came from @alkrueger and it said something about using Twitter for marketing and PR. Well, I work for a PR firm so naturally that title interested me so I took the bait. Upon clicking though - here’s what I got. Read More »
Kurt Bought Noah his first skateboard. Had to buy myself a new one too, he can't skate alone, right? My first board was a Christian Hosoi Hammerhead with OJ2 wheels.
Kurt Erica just told Noah that he needs to go to sleep in 10 minutes, Noah responded with "No, 5 minutes"... deal, make it 5. Need to work with him on those negotiating skills.
